Réalisé de 1888 à 1893 par l'architecte Noël Bion, le Hiéron est conçu autour du concept de musée eucharistique. L'architecture du bâtiment allie au clacissisme du vocabulaire la modernité des techniques constructives, comme l'utisation de la charpente métallique, conférant à l'édifice un certain éclectisme. De forme triangulaire, il se compose de quatre galeries à éclairage zénithal entourant une salle centrale octogonale. Le portail monumental est inscrit dans une travée composite surmontée d'un fronton cintré brisé à volutes et d'un fronton triangulaire. La grande salle, dite salle des Fastes, abrite trois peintures murales sur toiles marouflées, oeuvres d'Hugo d'Alési.

History
Completed from 1888 to 1893 by architect Noël Bion, the Hiéron is designed around the concept of an eucharistic museum. The architecture of the building combines the classicism of the vocabulary with the modernity of constructive techniques, such as the use of metal roof structure, conferring on the building a certain eclecticism. Triangular in form, it consists of four galleries with overhead lighting surrounding a central octagonal room. The monumental portal is inscribed within a composite bay surmounted by a broken curved pediment with scrolls and a triangular pediment. The great room, called the Hall of Feasts, houses three mural paintings on canvas, works by Hugo d'Alési.
