Le théâtre a été aménagé au 19e siècle dans un bâtiment bordant la Grande Rue. En 1930, l'association des commerçants de la ville obtient sa réfection, confiée à l'architecte municipal Lamirand. Le théâtre est inauguré le 5 mai 1936. Son décor n'a pas changé depuis et présente par son homogénéité un exemple parfait du style Art Déco : papier peint en camaïeu bleu à motifs d'ananas stylisés, lambris bleu et gris à décor " Oisels " (réalisés par la maison Baudson). Les décors de scène sont l'oeuvre du peintre Honoré Hugrel et de l'entreprise Besquet.

History
The theatre was fitted out in the 19th century in a building bordering the Grande Rue. In 1930, the association of merchants of the town obtained its renovation, entrusted to the municipal architect Lamirand. The theatre was inaugurated on 5 May 1936. Its décor has not changed since and presents by its homogeneity a perfect example of the Art Déco style: wallpaper in blue monochrome with stylised pineapple motifs, blue and grey wainscoting with "Birds" décor (executed by the Baudson company). The stage décors are the work of the painter Honoré Hugrel and the company Besquet.
