L'église Saint-Martin de Purgerot s'élève au centre du village, à un carrefour, à proximité des principaux bâtiments publics de la commune. Orienté, l'édifice se compose d'une nef de trois travées voûtées sur croisées d'ogives, avec arcs doubleaux en arc brisé posés sur des sortes de pilastres en encorbellement ; d'un transept avec le clocher à la croisée ; d'un chœur à chevet plat également voûté sur croisées d'ogives, flanqué au sud d'une sacristie. L'histoire du bâtiment est mal connue. Son ancienneté, suggérée par le vocable, est confirmée par certains éléments d'architecture, comme les supports de la voûte de la nef, que R. Tournier date des 12e-13e siècles, les rapprochant de l'église de la Grâce Dieu ; ou les baies géminées du clocher, portées par des colonnettes à profonds abaques en marteau. The Church of Saint-Martin of Purgerot stands in the centre of the village, at a crossroads, near the principal public buildings of the commune. Oriented, the building consists of a nave of three bays vaulted with rib vaults, with double arches in pointed arch resting on a kind of pilasters in corbelling; a transept with the bell tower at the crossing; a choir with flat chevet also vaulted with rib vaults, flanked on the south by a sacristy.
