Horloge inaugurée en 1908. Selon la tradition locale, le maire aurait souhaité imposer à ses administrés une heure "républicaine", face à l'horloge de l'église Saint-Joseph qui se situait à trois cents mètres, bâtie en 1840 et détruite en 1971. La conception est due aux architectes Cholat et Robert. Les sculptures sont l'oeuvre de Pierre Devaux. L'horloge se dresse au sommet d'une colonne octogonale en pierre de taille, reposant sur une assise de béton qui servait autrefois de banc aux piétons. A l'intérieur du fût, une échelle permettait d'accéder au mécanisme. La partie supérieure est décorée d'éléments en fonte. Sous chacun des quatre cadrans se trouve un masque d'Apollon prolongé par des nuées rayonnantes. Chaque cadran est surmonté d'un hibou aux ailes déployées, symbolisant la nuit et le repos. Aux quatre angles sont sculptés des faisceaux bagués en forme de carquois, contenant les flèches du temps. De grands motifs floraux forment des pendentifs. Le monument est recouvert d'un campanile ajouré, couvert d'un dôme. Le mécanisme est dû à l'entreprise Charvet.

History
Clock inaugurated in 1908. According to local tradition, the mayor would have wished to impose on his administrated a "republican" hour, in the face of the clock of the church of Saint-Joseph which was situated three hundred metres away, built in 1840 and destroyed in 1971. The conception is due to the architects Cholat and Robert. The sculptures are the work of Pierre Devaux. The clock rises at the summit of an octagonal column in ashlar stone, resting on a concrete base which formerly served as a bench for pedestrians. Inside the shaft, a ladder allowed access to the mechanism. The upper part is decorated with elements in cast iron. Under each of the four dials is found a mask of Apollo extended by radiating clouds. Each dial is surmounted by an owl with spread wings, symbolising night and rest. At the four angles are sculpted bundles of rings in the form of quivers, containing the arrows of time. Large floral motifs form pendants. The monument is covered by an openwork campanile, covered with a dome. The mechanism is due to the Charvet firm.
