Historique
La prébende de Jarnioux est mise en place vers 1330. La chapelle est régulièrement mentionnée dans les rapports des tournées pastorales des évêques de Lyon. En 1720, une petite chapelle est construite sur le mur sud pour faire face à la chapelle du mur nord. A la Révolution, elle est vendue comme bien national et acquise par la commune. En 1847, l'ancienne prébende Sainte-Catherine devient église paroissiale. En 1889 est construite une nouvelle église à l'emplacement des anciennes halles de la ville. La chapelle est vendue la même année à Monsieur Montibert qui fait construire contre le côté sud une grande maison qui accueille des commerces au rez-de-chaussée, la chapelle servant d'entrepôt. En 1898, le clocher brûle et le reste de l'édifice est endommagé. En 2001, des peintures murales sont découvertes, allant du 14e au 19e siècle. Les peintures représentent des visages de saints.

History
The prebend of Jarnioux was established around 1330. The chapel is regularly mentioned in reports of the pastoral visits of the bishops of Lyon. In 1720, a small chapel is built on the south wall to face the chapel of the north wall. At the Revolution, it is sold as national property and acquired by the commune. In 1847, the former prebend of Sainte-Catherine becomes the parish church. In 1889 a new church is built at the site of the old town market halls. The chapel is sold the same year to Monsieur Montibert who has a large house built against the south side which accommodates shops on the ground floor, the chapel serving as a warehouse. In 1898, the bell tower catches fire and the rest of the building is damaged. In 2001, murals are discovered, ranging from the 14th to the 19th century. The paintings represent the faces of saints.
