History

Strong house acquired in the mid-16th century by the Saconay family. The building experiences several campaigns of work. In the second half of the 16th century, the house is enlarged and transformed into a pleasure house, while reinforcing the military defences. The 18th century brings interior modifications (layout, decoration, painting, new chapel). In the mid-19th century, the building is transformed into workshops. Important works are undertaken between 1885 and 1900 by the architects Louis Bresson then Marc Desplagnes. Buildings are added at the end of the 19th century (entrance postern to the south-west, annexes to the north-east, and staircase turret to the north tower). In 1892, construction of a keep on the south-west façade. The oldest decorative elements are found in the main dwelling, a long building connecting the south and east towers. The floor of the courtyard façade corresponds to the old 16th-century colonnade gallery, closed by windows in the 18th century. The ground-floor rooms contain 18th-century panelling. The bedrooms on the floor and in the towers have decorations from the late 18th century (wallpapers, panelling...). The gallery on the floor is decorated with paintings from the late 18th century, covering older paintings.
