Construite par la famille Vincent à Sainte-Marie-aux-Mines, entre 1920 et 1925, cette scierie, équipée dès sa création d'une machine à vapeur de 1893, rachetée dans une usine textile, est la troisième implantation choisie sur la commune. Elle est la première à ne faire usage que de la vapeur, en brûlant la sciure et les délignures. La machine à vapeur, à double effet, développait 150 CV. Fabriquée par la Société Alsacienne de Construction Mécanique, elle était alimentée par une chaudière de type marine, de 1907, installée par la société Kuhnle, Kopp & Kausch AG de Frankenthal. L'étang qui est comblé servait au tri et au nettoyage des troncs. Ceux-ci étaient tirés par chaîne sur trois lignes de sciage. La scierie Vincent produisait des madriers, des poutres, qui servirent notamment au tunnel de Sainte-Marie-aux-Mines et, en 1945, à la reconstruction des ponts sur le Rhin. En 1960, la vapeur fut définitivement remplacée par l'électricité. La scierie a conservé l'essentiel de son outillage depuis son arrêt en 1990 : pompe, chariot, déligneuse, scie à fagot, scie à latte, scie à barre automotrice, moulin à sciure, tronçonneuse.

History
Built by the Vincent family at Sainte-Marie-aux-Mines, between 1920 and 1925, this sawmill, equipped from its creation with a steam engine of 1893, bought from a textile factory, is the third location chosen on the commune. It is the first to use only steam power, by burning sawdust and edging waste. The steam engine, of double effect, developed 150 hp. Manufactured by the Alsatian Company of Mechanical Construction, it was supplied by a marine-type boiler of 1907, installed by the company Kuhnle, Kopp & Kausch AG of Frankenthal. The pond which was filled served in the sorting and cleaning of logs. These were drawn by chain on three sawing lines. The Vincent sawmill produced beams and joists, which were used notably for the Sainte-Marie-aux-Mines tunnel and, in 1945, for the reconstruction of bridges over the Rhine. In 1960, steam was definitively replaced by electricity. The sawmill has retained most of its equipment since its closure in 1990: pump, carriage, edger, slab saw, lath saw, motor-driven frame saw, sawdust mill, chainsaws.
