Prototype des manufactures de tabac conçues par l'architecte Eugène Rolland (1812-1885), architecte et ingénieur au service de la Régie des tabacs et inventeur notamment du torréfacteur, la manufacture des tabacs de Strasbourg fut bâtie entre 1849 et 1852. Détruite par des bombardements en 1870 et 1918, elle fut reconstruite à l'identique, puis de nouveau endommagée en 1944.

History
Prototype of tobacco manufactories designed by the architect Eugène Rolland (1812-1885), architect and engineer in the service of the Tobacco Authority and inventor notably of the roaster, the tobacco manufactory of Strasbourg was built between 1849 and 1852. Destroyed by bombardments in 1870 and 1918, it was rebuilt identically, then again damaged in 1944.
