L'ancien fort Moltke appartient à la ceinture de quatorze forts détachés, élevés après l'annexion de l'Alsace-Lorraine, et destinés à défendre Strasbourg. Construit entre 1872 et 1874 selon le type dit à fossé sec. Il a été rebaptisé fort Rapp après 1918. Ces forts, devenus obsolètes dès 1885, n'ont jamais eu d'usage stratégique.

History

The former Fort Moltke belongs to the belt of fourteen detached forts, raised after the annexation of Alsace-Lorraine and intended to defend Strasbourg. Built between 1872 and 1874 according to the so-called dry moat type. It was renamed Fort Rapp after 1918. These forts, which became obsolete from 1885 onwards, never had any strategic use.
