Située dans l'ancien quartier des tanneurs d'Erstein, cette maison s'intègre à un ensemble comportant deux autres maisons de tanneurs datées respectivement de 1741 et 1804. La maison, 1, rue du Moulin, élevée en 1704 et peut-être remaniée en 1727, est donc la plus ancienne des trois. Quasiment réduite à sa structure en pan de bois, elle présente encore une intéressante iconographie centrée sur le tannage : emblèmes professionnels, figure de tanneur... Les ateliers des tanneurs se trouvaient dans les caves des maisons, avec accès au cours d'eau.

History
Located in the former tanners' quarter of Erstein, this house is integrated into a group comprising two other tanners' houses dated respectively 1741 and 1804. The house, 1, Rue du Moulin, raised in 1704 and perhaps altered in 1727, is therefore the oldest of the three. Reduced almost to its timber framing structure, it still presents an interesting iconography centred on tanning: professional emblems, figure of a tanner... The workshops of the tanners were located in the cellars of the houses, with access to the watercourse.
