Historique
Mis en place à partir de décembre 1939, le camp de Rivesaltes se compose d'une dizaine d'îlots comprenant chacun une soixantaine de baraques en briques et couvertures légères alignées autour d'une cour de rassemblement, et séparé des îlots voisins par des clôtures de barbelés. Camp destiné à l'internement des ressortissants étrangers se trouvant en France au moment de la déclaration de la guerre. Le camp sert de base aux troupes allemandes à partir de novembre 1942. Il devient lieu d'internement des prisonniers allemands en 1945. Par la suite, camp d'entraînement pour les troupes.
