Historique
Après la découverte d'une statue de la Vierge, le site devient un important centre de pélerinage. Les bâtiments (ermitage et chapelle) sont agrandis à la fin du 17e siècle (travaux de gros oeuvre terminés en 1686) et au 18e siècle (adjonction de contreforts en 1741). Si l'extérieur de la chapelle est plutôt austère, à l'intérieur se trouve un mobilier d'une exceptionnelle richesse réalisé par le sculpteur Joseph Sunyer au début du 18e siècle (retable du maître autel entre 1704 et 1707). L'église possède une nef unique prolongée à l'est par un camaril (chambre haute de la Vierge) accessible de part et d'autre de l'autel par deux volées d'escalier ; c'est un petit salon carré revêtu de boiseries peintes à décor architectural et couvert d'un dôme à lanterneau ; il a été commencé en 1718 par le sculpteur Sunyer et a été peint par Félix Escriba, peintre doreur de la confrérie de Saint-Luc.

History
After the discovery of a statue of the Virgin, the site becomes an important pilgrimage centre. The buildings (hermitage and chapel) are enlarged at the end of the 17th century (major works completed in 1686) and in the 18th century (addition of buttresses in 1741). If the exterior of the chapel is rather austere, the interior contains furnishings of exceptional richness created by the sculptor Joseph Sunyer at the beginning of the 18th century (retable of the high altar between 1704 and 1707). The church possesses a single nave extended to the east by a camaril (high chamber of the Virgin) accessible on either side of the altar by two flights of stairs; it is a small square room covered with painted wooden wall panelling with architectural decoration and covered by a dome with lantern; it was begun in 1718 by the sculptor Sunyer and was painted by Félix Escriba, painter-gilder of the confraternity of Saint-Luke.
