Historique
L'église Saint-Pierre de Cette fut construite, semble-t-il, dans la deuxième moitié du 12e siècle. Comme souvent en Béarn, une abbaye laïque, mentionnée dès 1385, fut établie contre celle-ci, et accolée au côté ouest : ce bâtiment devint ultérieurement le presbytère, transformé en ferme au cours du 19e siècle, puis en simple étable et, en partie, en garage. Après la fin des troubles religieux, au 17e siècle, l'église s'agrandit d'une chapelle nord avec un retable de marbre et d'un clocher-porche au sud. Le choeur reçut son décor mobilier aux 18e et 19e siècles. A l'intérieur, le lambris et les crépis sont le résultat de deux campagnes de travaux exécutés dans les années 1990. Un décor peint, dans l'abside, vient d'être tout récemment découvert

History
The church of Saint-Pierre de Cette was constructed, it would seem, in the second half of the 12th century. As is often the case in Béarn, a lay abbey, mentioned from 1385, was established beside it, and attached to the west side: this building subsequently became the presbytery, converted into a farm in the course of the 19th century, then into a simple stable and, in part, into a garage. After the end of religious troubles in the 17th century, the church was enlarged with a north chapel with a marble retable and a porch tower to the south. The choir received its furnishings decoration in the 18th and 19th centuries. Inside, the wainscoting and render are the result of two campaigns of work executed in the 1990s. A painted decoration, in the apse, has just been discovered quite recently.
