Le château de Verchin et son parc paysager occupent un lieu privilégié dans la vallée de la Lys, tirant profit des éléments naturels. La propriété se compose de bâtiments d'époques différentes: 17ème siècle pour l'ancien corps de logis, 18ème siècle pour le château à l'architecture modeste de style classique, 19ème siècle pour l'adjonction d'une aile en marteau par l'architecte Clovis Normand en 1854 et enfin, 20ème siècle pour l'édification d'une aile d'accompagnement en 1953. Une chapelle, une serre et un potager entouré de hauts murs complètent l'ensemble. En 1869, un parc à l'anglaise fut aménagé agrémenté d'une pièce d'eau et d'une île nécessitant la mise en place d'un système de barrage sur la Lys afin d'éviter l'envasement. En aval, une cascade fait office de déversoir et permet à la Lys de retrouver son cours. Le parc est planté d'arbres exceptionnels et de plantes en massifs ou d'espèces aquatiques créant un jardin récompensé par le prix des Vieilles maisons françaises.

The château de Verchin and its landscaped park occupy a privileged location in the Lys valley, taking advantage of natural elements.
