Historique
La paroisse de Gémages est citée au 9e siècle sous le nom de Gamarziacas. Dédiée à Saint Martin, l'église remonte à l'époque romane. Elle comprend une nef unique avec un choeur en prolongement se terminant par un chevet plat. Le mur gouttereau nord de la nef a conservé une baie romane avec linteau semi-circulaire monolithe strié, imitant le clavage de plusieurs pierres. Au 15e siècle, un clocher-porche avec toit en bâtière a été élevé, de nouvelles baies ont été ouvertes dans la nef, et des peintures murales ornent les murs intérieurs. History
The parish of Gémages is cited in the 9th century under the name of Gamarziacas. Dedicated to Saint Martin, the church dates back to the Romanesque period. It comprises a single nave with a choir in continuation ending in a flat chevet. The north gutter wall of the nave has retained a Romanesque opening with a monolithic striated semi-circular lintel, imitating the jointing of several stones. In the 15th century, a porch tower with a roof of double-pitched tiles was erected, new openings were made in the nave, and wall paintings adorn the interior walls. Subsequently, a sacristy was attached to the north side of the sanctuary and the south openings of the choir were enlarged. In 1652, the church was decorated with a reredos through the generosity of the fabric.
