L'édifice, l'un des plus anciens de Breteuil, date de la deuxième moitié du 18e siècle et a subi quelques aménagements après 1878. Sa façade principale est en pan de bois hourdé de torchis sur solin en pierre de taille.

History
House where Hyppolite Bayard (1801-1887) lived, inventor in France of the so-called direct positive process in photography (the current Polaroid system). The building, one of the oldest in Breteuil, dates from the second half of the 18th century and underwent some modifications after 1878. Its main façade is timber framing filled with daub on stone ashlar plinth.
