Historique
Cette ancienne sucrerie de betteraves, fermée en 1969, a été construite en 1829 (principalement la grande halle de fabrication centrale et les salles contiguës à l'est, ainsi que les pavillons d'entrée). Les bâtiments en brique d'origine sont demeurés en place, notamment les principaux murs décorés d'arcades en plein cintre et de moulures sous les corniches. Cet ensemble conserve tous les bâtiments ayant abrité les grandes étapes de la transformation du sucre : la cour de déchargement, les transporteurs hydrauliques d'acheminement des betteraves, la salle de lavage (1930) , les salles de découpage et de diffusion (deuxième étage) , d'épuration des jus de diffusion, d'évaporation des jus et de cristallisation du sucre (rez-de-chaussée et premier étage) , datant de la deuxième moitié du 19e siècle. Les bâtiments de l'usine sont entourés de bâtiments annexes et habitations des 19e et 20e siècles, témoignant des activités entourant la sucrerie et de la vie des habitants du site industriel : distillerie, hangars, ligne de chemin de fer, bureaux, laboratoires, remises, écuries, étables, poulaillers, bergeries, porcherie, ... d'une part et habitation et jardin du patron, logements d'employés et d'ouvriers, jardins ouvriers, école, chapelle, abri souterrain, ... d'autre part.

History
This former sugar beet refinery, closed in 1969, was constructed in 1829 (principally the great central manufacturing hall and the rooms adjoining it to the east, as well as the entrance pavilions). The original brick buildings remain in place, in particular the main walls decorated with round arch arcades and mouldings beneath the cornices. This complex preserves all the buildings that housed the major stages of sugar processing: the unloading yard, the hydraulic transporters for conveying beet, the washing room (1930), the slicing and diffusion rooms (second floor), purification of diffusion juices, evaporation of juices and crystallization of sugar (ground floor and first floor), dating from the second half of the 19th century. The refinery buildings are surrounded by ancillary buildings and dwellings of the 19th and 20th centuries, bearing witness to the activities surrounding the refinery and the life of the inhabitants of the industrial site: distillery, hangars, railway line, offices, laboratories, sheds, stables, cowsheds, poultry houses, sheepfolds, pigsty, ... on one hand and the owner's dwelling and garden, employee and worker housing, allotment gardens, school, chapel, underground shelter, ... on the other hand.
