Historique
Cette propriété composée d'une maison, d'une grange et d'un verger fut louée par Pissarro en 1884 et acquise définitivement en 1892, grâce à un emprunt auprès de Monet. La maison est un édifice de plan carré, en briques avec chaînages d'angles et encadrement de fenêtres en pierres de taille. La toiture est couverte d'ardoise. La décoration intérieure de l'époque a disparu. La grange, réaménagée en 1893, comprend un rez-de-chaussée pour les écuries et les remises, et l'atelier proprement dit à l'étage. Le mur nord de l'atelier est percé d'une immense verrière en plein cintre de 3 mètres d'ouverture, et le mur ouest d'une fenêtre avec vue sur le verger. L'accès se fait grâce à un escalier extérieur couvert. L'atelier et la maison d'Eragny représentent un haut lieu de la peinture impressionniste, car il fut source d'inspiration pour Pissarro, et fut très fréquenté par divers artistes (Cézanne, Monet, Sisley, Renoir, Mirbeau...).

History
This property composed of a house, a barn and an orchard was rented by Pissarro in 1884 and permanently acquired in 1892, thanks to a loan from Monet. The house is a square-plan building, in brick with angle quoins and window surrounds in ashlar stone. The roof is covered with slate. The interior decoration of the period has disappeared. The barn, reorganised in 1893, comprises a ground floor for stables and storage, and the studio proper on the upper floor. The north wall of the studio is pierced by an immense round-arch glass roof of 3 metres opening, and the west wall by a window with a view over the orchard. Access is gained by means of a covered external staircase. The studio and house at Eragny represent a high point of Impressionist painting, as it was a source of inspiration for Pissarro, and was very frequently visited by various artists (Cézanne, Monet, Sisley, Renoir, Mirbeau...).
