Historique

History
The Chambrerie of Béthisy-Saint-Pierre is situated at the edges of the chevet of the parish church. The Chambrerie was in the High Middle Ages the seat of the jurisdiction of the Chambrier of France. In 1123, Lisiard of Crépy, bishop of Soissons, gives to the abbot of Saint-Crépin-le-Grand, Teulphe, the altars of Saint-Pierre and Saint-Martin to establish there a community of monks. In the 17th century, the Chambrerie becomes the priory Saint-Pierre of the reformed Order of Saint-Maur. At the Revolution, it was sold as national property. In the middle of the 19th century, a community of Benedictines from La-Pierre-qui-Vire (Yonne) settles at Béthisy; work on fitting out begins in 1857. The chapel is built in 1859. Expelled for the first time in 1880, the religious will be expelled definitively in 1903 and will be replaced by the Sisters of the Christian Schools of Mercy. The Chambrerie of Béthisy-Saint-Pierre preserves disparate elements, testimony to its successive occupations: enclosure wall of the Middle Ages with entrance portal of the 19th century, vaulted hall of the 14th century called chapter house, barrel vaulted cellars, main dwelling remodelled in the 19th century, chapel (1859), temple of Greek inspiration (1843). The stained-glass windows of the chapel are extremely interesting: the grisailles of the nave were made at La-Pierre-qui-Vire; the stained-glass windows of the transept illustrating the Sacred Heart and the Virgin of the Holy Heart are signed by the workshop Lévêque, in operation at Beauvais between 1850 and 1888; the rose of the eastern façade is the work of abbé Deligny, author of the stained-glass windows of the churches of Jonquières, Remy, Canly and Le Meux; this rose depicts the Passion of Christ by means of symbols.
