History
Remnant of the defensive system of the town of Bouchain, the Bastion des Forges was built under Charles V and reinforced by Vauban with underground rooms and a powder magazine (1687). It bears witness to the emergence of bastion fortification in the Spanish Netherlands in the second quarter of the 16th century.
