Cité pour la première fois au 12e siècle, le village possédait au Moyen-Age trois mottes castrales, celle de Meurchin étant la dernière. Entourée de fossés en eau, la motte mesure 50m de diamètre et est conservée sur une hauteur de 5 à 6 mètres. C'est aujourd'hui un jardin d'agrément. La basse cour abrite une ferme dont les bâtiments ont été reconstruits en grande partie à la suite d'un incendie en 1720. Ils s'organisent autour d'une cour dont l'accès se fait par un porche surmonté d'un pigeonnier reconstruit en 1980. A un angle de la cour se trouve une ancienne brasserie des années 1860.

History
First mentioned in the 12th century, the village possessed in the Middle Ages three castle mounds, that of Meurchin being the last. Surrounded by water-filled ditches, the mound measures 50m in diameter and is preserved to a height of 5 to 6 metres. It is today a pleasure garden. The outer ward houses a farm whose buildings were largely rebuilt following a fire in 1720. They are organised around a courtyard whose access is by a porch surmounted by a pigeon house rebuilt in 1980. At one corner of the courtyard stands an old brewery from the 1860s.
