En 1892, le conseil municipal de la ville de Templeuve vote des crédits pour la construction d'une nouvelle mairie qui doit remplacer l'ancienne, trop vétuste. L'hôtel de ville est édifié entre 1893 et 1894, sur un ancien terrain dit maison vicariale, voisin de l'église communale. Louis Bonnier a choisi pour cet hôtel de ville une voie médiane entre modernité et respect de la tradition. Il s'est servi de ses connaissances artistiques et notamment de sa formation aux Beaux-Arts de Paris pour l'intégrer à son architecture, notamment dans le travail des façades, le dessin des portes, des ancres. L'édifice se caractérise par un traitement sobre et peu monumental, réalisé à partir de matériaux régionaux. Seule la présence du beffroi signale l'édifice en tant que mairie.

History
In 1892, the municipal council of the town of Templeuve votes credits for the construction of a new town hall which is to replace the old one, too dilapidated. The town hall is built between 1893 and 1894, on an old site known as vicarial house, next to the parish church. Louis Bonnier chose for this town hall a middle path between modernity and respect for tradition. He made use of his artistic knowledge and in particular his training at the Beaux-Arts in Paris to integrate it into his architecture, notably in the treatment of the facades, the design of the doors, of the anchors. The building is characterised by sober and little monumental treatment, realised from regional materials. Only the presence of the belfry signals the building as a town hall.
