Construit au 15e siècle sur une terre formant fief avec Nanvignes, le château de Villiers contrôlait l'ancienne voie romaine menant à Entrains. Propriété des Chabannes en 1496, il passe à Guillaume Tenon, trésorier de France et conseiller du roi en 1506. En 1697, le fief est érigé en marquisat en faveur de François Menou de Charnisay. Ce dernier quitte les lieux pour construire son château éponymes dans l'ancien village de Nanvignes et transforme le château de Villiers en ferme.
Description
L'ensemble, logis, châtelet, galerie, chapelle, communs agricoles et écurires sont bâtis sur un terre-plein rectangulaire flanqué de quatre tours rondes et cerné d'un fossé comblé au 19e siècle. L'intérieur du logis comporte des éléments de cloisonnement en bois du 16e s.

History
Built in the 15th century on a land forming a fief with Nanvignes, the château of Villiers controlled the ancient Roman road leading to Entrains. Property of the Chabannes in 1496, it passes to Guillaume Tenon, treasurer of France and counsellor of the king in 1506. In 1697, the fief is erected into a marquisate in favour of François Menou de Charnisay. The latter leaves the place to build his eponymous castle in the former village of Nanvignes and transforms the château of Villiers into a farm.
Description
The whole, main dwelling, gatehouse, gallery, chapel, agricultural outbuildings and stables are built on a rectangular raised platform flanked by four round towers and encircled by a moat filled in during the 19th century. The interior of the main dwelling contains timber-framing partitioning elements of the 16th century.
