Cette église a été construite en ciment armé par Georges Théodore Renaud. Elle a remplacé l'église édifiée en 1869 pour cette partie de la ville : cette première église désaffectée en 1925 fut démolie en 1926. La nouvelle église évoque l'Orient, la Terre Sainte, et les évêques de Bethléem venus en exil de Palestine à Clamecy de 1225 à 1793. Le style orientalisant évoque l'architecture romano-byzantine (église avec une coupole plate). La crypte sous l’abside est ornée de peintures murales exécutées à la fin des années 1940 et au début des années 1950 par Nicolas Boon, vicaire de la paroisse, et par le peintre Robert Pouyaud.

History
This church was built in reinforced cement by Georges Théodore Renaud. It replaced the church built in 1869 for this part of the town: this first church, deconsecrated in 1925, was demolished in 1926. The new church evokes the Orient, the Holy Land, and the bishops of Bethlehem who came into exile from Palestine to Clamecy from 1225 to 1793. The Orientalising style evokes Romano-Byzantine architecture (church with a flat dome). The crypt beneath the chevet is decorated with murals executed in the late 1940s and early 1950s by Nicolas Boon, vicar of the parish, and by painter Robert Pouyaud.
