Historique

History
Seat of a seigneury known from the 14th century, the domain saw several buildings succeed one another. The old manor was said to have been replaced by a new construction in 1720, modified in 1780 and not completed. The architect Auguste Beignet recomposes the present château between 1894 and 1896 respecting its stylistic characteristics and including the surviving elements of the preceding ensemble. The distribution of the main dwelling remains dependent on that of the old main dwelling. The main north entrance opens onto a vestibule which comprises the monumental staircase of honour. The large ground-floor drawing room has retained its 17th-18th century woodwork. The dining room possesses a decoration of woodwork and tapestries of the 19th century. Beyond the approach avenue to the château is found the ensemble of farm buildings. The 19th-century watermill has retained the whole of its machinery and its water system. On the side of the approach avenue is found the old 17th-century orchard vegetable garden. In the years 1893-1894, a landscape park is designed by Busigny. The recomposition of the domain illustrates the picturesque, rationalist and regionalist current. The classical character of the 17th-18th century building is preserved through a regular arrangement and a will to balance of masses, while the primitive function of the building and its belonging to a regional constructive tradition are recalled by the spatial organization of the ensemble and the introduction of a strong picturesque intention.
