The existence of the dwelling of the nobleman Alain de Kercadio is attested by the reformations and musters of 1427 and 1481. From the late 15th century to the early 18th century, the property belongs to the de Larlan family. In 1703, the inheritance passes to the Gouyon de Vaudurant: Jean-Louis Gouyon de Vaudurant, bishop of Saint-Pol-de-Léon (1745-1763) dies there in 1780. At the Revolution the domain is in the hands of the marquis de Rougé. Property of families of the highest aristocracy, the château incorporates into its closed-court plan a fortified main dwelling dated to the years 1480-1490, probably one of the last residential donjons built in Brittany, as well as the former 16th-century manor. The architectural realisation of the 18th century produced an ensemble which appears most conformable to the tastes for composition and symmetrical harmony characteristic of this century.
