The seigneury is attested at least from the 14th century. The present château may have been built for Antoine de Rozières, president of the Grands Jours de Saint-Mihiel, who died in 1611. The estate comprised the château, a castle chapel, courtyard, farmyard, dovecote, sheepfold, mill, wine presses and communal ovens. The outbuildings with L-shaped plan, attached to the château, are former dependencies transformed into farms or dwellings. The main body, with a compact plan, is framed by two square towers projecting at the opposite north-east and south-west angles. A few crescent-shaped gun ports of the 16th century remain at the base of the south-east tower. The façades are pierced on three levels with windows and mullioned windows. The 18th-century entrance door opens onto a large vestibule with a stone staircase with straight flights. The interior layout of the ground floor and storey has been preserved, as have the joinery and ironwork of the 18th century. To provide passage through rooms without openings, glazed doors were used in the 18th century. Outside, the retaining walls and terraces suggest a compartmented garden structure, with the existence of an angle pavilion. The château is part of a network of defensive sites. Its plan and silhouette are representative of the châteaux and fortified houses of the Messine region.
