L'emprise du château, symbolisée par un puissant donjon médiéval, élevé sur un plan polygonal, y est présente jusqu'à sa démolition au début du XIXè siècle. Le pigeonnier date de 1644, il est construit à l'Est du château. Inclus dans l'AVAP de Châteauvillain, fin 2015 il est signalé comme étant un édifice de "premier intérêt architectural".
Description
Sa silhouette domine la rue de la Soeur Hélène, il reproduit un plan circulaire de 12 m de diamètre et sa hauteur est de 13m. C'est une construction robuste et massive avec un toit en poivrières. Deux lucarnes s'ouvrent à l'Est et à l'Ouest. Leur baie offre un décor soigné avec des pilastres présentant des chapiteaux composites. Le pigeonnier à conservé un enduit blanc.Deux ouvertures superposées du côté Nord permettent l'accès à l'intérieur du pigeonnier. Le sol du pigeonnier est en terre battue. La charpente présente trois enrayures superposées en chêne, chevillées et clavées.

History
The extent of the castle, symbolized by a powerful medieval keep, raised on a polygonal plan, is present there until its demolition at the beginning of the 19th century. The dovecote dates from 1644, it is built to the East of the castle. Included in the AVAP of Châteauvillain, at the end of 2015 it is noted as being a building of "first architectural interest".
Description
Its silhouette dominates the rue de la Soeur Hélène, it reproduces a circular plan of 12 m in diameter and its height is 13 m. It is a robust and massive construction with a roof in pepperbox form. Two dormers open to the East and to the West. Their opening displays careful decoration with pilasters presenting composite capitals. The dovecote has retained a white render. Two superimposed openings on the North side allow access to the interior of the dovecote. The floor of the dovecote is of rammed earth. The roof structure presents three superimposed oak ties, pegged and keyed.
