Cistercian abbey founded between 1126 and 1136. Destroyed during the Hundred Years' War and the Wars of Religion, the abbey was rebuilt in the 18th century. The work appears to have been completed in 1776. Preserved are the guests' lodge in its entirety and part of the convent building and church. The old guests' lodge is a U-shaped building, raised on two levels with a central bay surmounted by a triangular pediment. After the Revolution, two farmers divided the premises, which were converted into a farm. The north-west pavilion was converted into a barn. The lodge is completed, to the north, by an old dovecote of square plan, having lost its original arrangements, and by a bread oven. To the east of the lodge are part of the convent wing contemporary with the guests' lodge which served as a presbytery, and the old abbey church which became a parish church in the 19th century. The church was transformed in 1836 with the addition of an extra bay to the west. A porch tower is built to the east in 1865-1866, according to the plans of the architect Girard. The old choir becomes the entrance to the nave, and the choir is moved to the old west entrance. Two chapels complete the edifice in 1879, according to the plans of the architect Fayl-Billot. The rectangular plan is then transformed into a Latin cross plan, with doubling of the size. Only the first three bays of the nave correspond to the old abbey church.
