Historique
Demeure en grande partie en pans de bois, matériau couramment employé dans l'habitat châlonnais jusqu'à la fin du 19e siècle. Les parties du 18e siècle correspondent à la maison construite par Louis-François Gargam, trésorier de France, qui y réside dès 1773. Dans la seconde moitié du 19e siècle, des aménagements sont apportés, dont un grand jardin d'hiver. Un second jardin plus vaste est créé à la fin du 19e siècle par le nouveau propriétaire, un industriel. Les deux vérandas ont conservé leurs vitraux à décor végétal, les sols en mosaïque et le couvrement (une verrière pour l'un des jardins ; une voûte en berceau à décor en trompe l'oeil pour le second). A l'intérieur, certaines pièces ont été dotées d'un décor de style éclectique (vitraux, lambris, plafond, parquet, fer forgé, sculpture...).

History
Dwelling built largely in timber framing, a material commonly employed in Châlons housing until the end of the 19th century. The 18th-century parts correspond to the house built by Louis-François Gargam, Treasurer of France, who resided there from 1773. In the second half of the 19th century, alterations were made, including a large winter garden. A second, larger garden was created at the end of the 19th century by the new owner, an industrialist. The two verandas have retained their stained glass with vegetable decoration, mosaic floors and coverings (a glass roof for one of the gardens; a barrel vault with trompe l'oeil decoration for the second). Inside, certain rooms have been given eclectic style decoration (stained glass, panelling, ceiling, parquet, wrought iron, sculpture...).
