Au début du 20e siècle, la maison Pommery est dirigée par le marquis Melchior de Polignac. Ce dernier, souhaitant proposer à ses employés un espace pour l'exercice sportif, charge l'architecte paysagiste Edouard Redont de concevoir l'aménagement. La conception du parc associe installations sportives et parc paysager à l'anglaise. Le marquis souhaite que le parc devienne un lieu d'entraînement pour former des sportifs de renommée internationale. Un collège d'athlètes est créé et le parc devient son lieu d'entraînement. Une piscine et un gymnase couvert sont installés. Les travaux ont lieu de 1912 à 1914. Après la Première guerre mondiale, le parc ravagé sera restauré par Redont.

History
