Historique
Bâtiment construit en 1898 sous la direction de l'architecte rémois Ernest Kalas pour la société Jules Mumm et Cie. Plusieurs artistes parisiens ont apporté leur concours pour la décoration : mosaïques réalisées par Auguste Guilbert-Martin, dessins dûs à Joseph Blanc et Octave Guillonnet, cariatides exécutées par Emile Peynot. La façade est composée de deux parties bien distinctes : une partie inférieure en brique percée d'une grande porte circulaire évoquant la forme des foudres ; une partie supérieure qui présente en cinq scènes (réalisées en mosaïque) la fabrication du champagne. C'est un exemple très original de façade publicitaire. Après le bombardement de l'hôtel de ville en mars 1917, la mairie de Reims a siégé dans le cellier. Actuellement propriété des champagnes Jacquart.

History
Building constructed in 1898 under the direction of the architect from Reims Ernest Kalas for the company Jules Mumm et Cie. Several Parisian artists contributed to the decoration: mosaics executed by Auguste Guilbert-Martin, designs by Joseph Blanc and Octave Guillonnet, caryatids executed by Emile Peynot. The façade is composed of two distinct parts: a lower part in brick pierced by a large circular door evoking the shape of vats; an upper part which presents in five scenes (executed in mosaic) the manufacture of champagne. It is a very original example of an advertising façade. After the bombardment of the town hall in March 1917, the town hall of Reims was located in the wine cellars. Currently owned by Jacquart champagnes.
