History
The former fishmarket dated from 1896. Largely destroyed by the incendiary bombs of the last war, it was rebuilt in the context of redevelopment of the neighbourhood. The design of the new fishmarket is the work of Roman Karasinski, collaborator of the reconstructing architect of Coutances, Louis Arretche. Rebuilt in 1951, the building is covered with a thin concrete shell, of slightly ovoid form. The fishmarket stands out as representative of this type of post-war construction.
