L'hôtel de la Caisse d'épargne d'Orléans a été élevé entre 1910 et 1912 à l'emplacement de l'ancien hôtel de Geffrier. Construit entre cour et jardin, l'immeuble est relié à la rue par deux ailes en retour d'un seul niveau couvertes en terrasse. L'immeuble principal présente une ornementation ostentatoire : guirlande, têtes de lions à la base des consoles, colonnes cannelées, mascarons au centre des linteaux ou des arcs des fenêtres. Des inscriptions sont disposées au sommet de l'élévation ; elles mentionnent la qualité de l'institution (Caisse d'Epargne) , mais aussi les valeurs qu'elle renferme (Paix et Travail). Si la façade a été bien conservée, il n'en va pas de même pour l'organisation interne. Seule la verrière qui couvrait la salle d'accueil du public et les arbalétriers qui soutenaient la partie oblique du toit sont encore en place. Le reste du décor a disparu lors des transformations dans les années 1970. La façade de la Caisse d'Epargne d'Orléans est représentative du groupe des hôtels de Caisse d'Epargne qui s'inscrivent dans la continuité des hôtels particuliers - la position de l'édifice le rappelle. History
The savings bank building of Orléans was constructed between 1910 and 1912 on the site of the former Geffrier mansion. Built between courtyard and garden, the building is connected to the street by two wings in return of a single storey covered with a terrace. The main building displays ostentatious ornamentation: garland, lion heads at the base of consoles, fluted columns, mascarons at the centre of lintels or window arches. Inscriptions are arranged at the top of the elevation; they mention the quality of the institution (Savings Bank), but also the values it contains (Peace and Work). If the façade has been well preserved, the same cannot be said of the internal organisation. Only the glazed roof which covered the public reception room and the arbalests which supported the oblique part of the roof are still in place. The rest of the decoration disappeared during transformations in the 1970s.
