Dominant la Vallée de la Loire et face à l'abbaye de Saint-Florent-le-Vieil, le château de la Madeleine a été rebaptisé récemment " Palais Briau " du nom de son commanditaire, François Briau, ingénieur des Arts et Métiers, grand entrepreneur de chemins de fer dans le Sud de l'Italie et dans l'Ouest ligérien.
