The château de la Planche was originally a small fortified house with stair tower, built in the 15th century. The seigneury was held by the family of Fugy. At the end of the 16th century, Jean de Fugy, commander of the Leaguers, holds garrison at the château and also guards the château-priory of Grazac. During the course of these struggles, the Planche is sacked. In the 17th and 18th centuries, the lords of Fugy administer the goods of the priory and obtain leases for life from them. In the 17th century, the logis is enlarged by the addition of a wing in the eastern extension. The openings of the château are unified, the spiral staircase of the tower is demolished and a staircase with newel wall is built in the new wing. In 1815, the property passes by alliance to the Odde du Villard. Marcel Odde du Villard (1789-1860), judge at the tribunal of the Puy, is passionate about botany and carries out research on the flora of Velay. He arranges in front of the château a landscaped park which serves him as a field of study. In the 19th century, the house is further enlarged by the construction of two building bodies in return to the east and the stable, which burned, is rebuilt in 1825.

The château is of very simple architecture: a rectangular building body in granite, covered in tiles, of four bays over three levels with semi-detached tower. At the angles remain the bases of crenellations cut off. In return to the east, rise two small lower building bodies. Outbuildings are arranged to the west, perpendicular to the château.
