History
This building belongs to the wave of constructions of fortified houses in Velay in the second half of the 16th century. The troubles caused by pillagers and organised military troops led to the development of architecture close to medieval forts, with main dwelling of massed plan flanked by two circular towers integrating a more elevated barlong mass. The evolution of weaponry is taken into account with the presence of gun-ports of different models. Isolated elements of decoration testify to an attempt to conform to Renaissance fashion. The castle preserves painted wall decorations dating from the 17th century.
