Erigée par la municipalité en 1883, cette statue monumentale est due au sculpteur Eugène Hiolle et repose sur un socle en pierre de l'architecte Antoine Martin, qui rappelle par ses inscriptions la participation de La Fayette aux faits marquants de la Révolution française et de l'Indépendance américaine.
