History
In the 13th century, the château succeeds a fortified house. The keep was built in 1296. Of the château there remains only the tower which, restored, served as the town hall until the end of the 20th century. Of square plan, it originally comprised five storeys. Access was located on the second storey. It possesses arrow slits and twin openings reflecting the contradiction between military requirements and the search for comfort at the end of the 13th century. The tower is crowned by a fanciful crenellation dating from the 19th century, as do the piercing of doors and windows.
