Historique

History
Located in the Haute Lande, the town of Solférino, named in 1863 after the victory won by Napoléon III against the Austrians the same year, covers the Imperial Estate, created in 1857 on uncultivated marshy lands. This experimental estate is composed of a group of model farms as well as a town. This agglomeration responded to the law of 19 June 1857 relating to the drainage and cultivation of the Landes de Gascogne. The farms were built by Henri Crouzet according to an identical plan: farm buildings in the shape of a horseshoe delimit a rectangular courtyard with the main dwelling facing them. The farm of Pouy, built between 1857 and 1859, is one of the 9 farms realised. It housed the head keeper and steward Bernardin.
