La forêt de Chaux intégra le domaine royal après la conquête de la Franche-Comté par Louis XIV. En 1669, une ordonnance établissait la nouvelle administration des forêts. En 1776, la forêt fut affectée à la nouvelle saline d'Arc-en-Senans et organisée en seize triages orientés nord-sud de part et d'autre d'une voie centrale est-ouest. En 1824, il fut décidé de délimiter les triages par huit bornes. Celles-ci se présentent sous la forme de bornes-colonnes doriques grecques et sont datées de 1826.

History
The forest of Chaux integrated the royal domain after the conquest of Franche-Comté by Louis XIV. In 1669, an ordinance established the new administration of the forests. In 1776, the forest was assigned to the new salt works of Arc-en-Senans and organized into sixteen divisions oriented north-south on either side of a central east-west way. In 1824, it was decided to delimit the divisions by eight boundary stones. These present themselves in the form of Greek Doric column-shaped boundary stones and are dated 1826.
