Historique
La première mention d'une communauté de chanoines réguliers venus d'Abondance remonte à 1170. Le passage du prieuré à l'abbaye de Saint-Claude, effectif en 1244, est confirmé par une bulle de Clément VII en 1388. L'église actuelle semble remonter au troisième quart du 15e siècle. L'édifice est de plan allongé sans transept. Le choeur, refait au 17e siècle, accompagné par la tour du clocher et par la sacristie, se termine par une abside à trois pans. La façade antérieure, sur le lac, conserve le dispositif 15e siècle du portail central surmonté par une baie. Le prieuré comportait une porte dans une tour, des murailles, un bâtiment principal et un autre pour le sacristain. La tour du clocher a été reconstruite et les baies ont été élargies en 1729.

History
The first mention of a community of regular canons from Abondance dates back to 1170. The passage of the priory to the abbey of Saint-Claude, effective in 1244, was confirmed by a bull of Clement VII in 1388. The present church appears to date from the third quarter of the 15th century. The building is of elongated plan without transept. The choir, remade in the 17th century, accompanied by the bell tower and by the sacristy, terminates in a three-sided apse. The front façade, overlooking the lake, retains the 15th-century arrangement of the central portal surmounted by an opening. The priory comprised a door in a tower, walls, a main building and another for the sacristan. The bell tower was rebuilt and the openings were enlarged in 1729.
