Une petite abbaye est attestée en 869. Les Bénédictines sont citées au 10e siècle. La sécularisation s'amorça au 13e siècle, transformant les moniales en chanoinesses séculières. History
A small abbey is attested in 869. The Benedictine nuns are mentioned in the 10th century. Secularization began in the 13th century, transforming the nuns into secular canonesses. The modern period sees the attachment of the abbey to Saint-Claude. The church adjoined the Romanesque parish church to the north. The quarter of the ladies' houses was developed to the south as far as the spur of the Rochette. The house was that of Charlotte Mignot de la Balme. The rear façade dates from the early 18th century, but the house retains older elements. The building has a vaulted cellar, the old kitchen, the dining room and the day room on the ground floor, the bedrooms on the upper floor.
