Sous la Révolution, la société populaire donnait des représentations théâtrales dans la maison des oratoriens. Par arrêté du 20 frimaire an II, le représentant du peuple accorde l'ancienne chapelle de la Croix (fin 16e-17e siècle) pour les représentations de la société dramatique et la célébration des fêtes publiques. La vente des matériaux de l'ancienne salle de comédie fut employée à peindre la décoration de la nouvelle salle. Les nouveaux décors sont réalisés en 1864. La salle à l'italienne présente une disposition de pilastres monumentaux ioniques en bois périphériques devant lesquels sont établis les deux niveaux de galeries. History
Under the Revolution, the popular society gave theatrical performances in the house of the Oratorians. By decree of 20 Frimaire Year II, the representative of the people granted the old Cross chapel (late 16th-17th century) for the performances of the dramatic society and the celebration of public festivities. The sale of materials from the old comedy hall was used to paint the decoration of the new hall. The new decorations were executed in 1864. The hall in the Italian style presents an arrangement of monumental Ionic pilasters in wood around the periphery before which are established two levels of galleries. A contemporary ceiling conceals a depressed dome. The stage is framed by two levels of proscenium boxes between monumental Ionic pilasters. It has retained from its machinery only a few elements of the gridiron.
