History
The abbey of Saint-André-le-Haut, situated within the walls of the town, is among the oldest monastic foundations in the town (perhaps 6th century). The buildings of this monastery for women (currently a courtyard of honour, a cloister and a deconsecrated church), several times rebuilt between the 11th and 17th centuries, are preserved in their near-complete entirety. The abbey church was a parish church from the 16th century until the Revolution.
