L’ancienne église paroissiale de Villeloin-Coulangé se situe à l’entrée orientale du centre bourg, derrière le cimetière communal et à proximité de l’actuelle église Saint-Michel, de laquelle elle est séparée par la route départementale (D12).
Description
De l’église, il ne subsiste aujourd’hui que le chœur, constitué d’une abside et de deux travées droites, pour une longueur totale d’environ 9 mètres. A l’exception du mur occidental, élevé en moellons suite à la destruction de la nef, les murs de la chapelle sont construits en tuffeau. Le moyen appareil régulier prend appui sur une assise de moellons plats au nord et au sud, et peut- être à l’est mais le niveau du terrain, visiblement rehaussé, ne permet pas d’en juger. Six contreforts scandent l’élévation ; leur hauteur et leur épaisseur décroît au fur et à mesure que l’on s’éloigne de l’emplacement de l’ancien clocher. L’ensemble est couvert d’une toiture à croupe en tuiles plates. La charpente est à chevrons- formant-fermes à entraits retroussés, avec assemblages à tenon et mortaise, suivant une typologie usuelle entre la fin du XVe et le début du XVIIe siècle. Les rampants et la petite croix sommitale ont été placés au moment de la clôture du mur pignon en 1874. La façade occidentale a été élevée en moellons entre 1873 et 1875 pour clore le chœur au niveau de l’arc triomphal de la première église. Deux niches, autrefois situées à l’intérieur de la nef, se retrouvent à droite et à gauche de la porte d’entrée. Un angelot provenant probablement de l’ancienne abbaye Saint-Sauveur, ainsi qu’un linteau sculpté d’une croix au XIXe siècle animent l’ensemble. Les deux marches d’accès ont également été construites autour de 1874. A l’intérieur, des piles maçonnées délimitent l’espace en deux travées droites, voûtées en berceau plein-cintre, et une abside, voûtée en cul-de-four. Les voûtes, recouvertes de badigeon, présentent de nombreuses fissures.

The former parish church of Villeloin-Coulangé is located at the eastern entrance to the town centre, behind the communal cemetery and near the present Saint-Michel church, from which it is separated by the departmental road (D12).
Description
Of the church, only the choir remains today, consisting of an apse and two straight bays, for a total length of approximately 9 metres. With the exception of the western wall, built in rubble stone following the destruction of the nave, the walls of the chapel are constructed in tuffeau. The regular medium coursing rests on a course of flat rubble stone to the north and south, and perhaps to the east but the level of the ground, visibly raised, does not allow one to judge. Six buttresses punctuate the elevation; their height and thickness decrease as one moves away from the location of the former bell tower. The whole is covered with a hipped roof in flat tiles. The roof structure is with rafters-forming-principals with raised ties, with mortise and tenon joinery, following a usual typology between the late 15th and early 17th century. The rafters and small cross summit were placed at the time of the closure of the gable wall in 1874. The western facade was built in rubble stone between 1873 and 1875 to close the choir at the level of the triumphal arch of the first church. Two niches, formerly situated inside the nave, are found to the right and left of the entrance door. A cherub probably from the former abbey of Saint-Sauveur, as well as a lintel carved with a cross in the 19th century enliven the ensemble. The two access steps were also built around 1874. Inside, masonry piles delineate the space into two straight bays, vaulted in round-arch barrel vault, and an apse, vaulted in cul-de-four. The vaults, covered with whitewash, present numerous cracks.
