L'ancien jeu de paume de Chinon est l'une des plus anciennes salles conservées de ce jeu qui eut un succès qu'on n'imagine plus en France. Le bâtiment, dont la charpente a probablement été mise en place en 1587, a connu plusieurs affectations et subi de nombreuses altérations structurelles depuis son édification. Mais le souvenir de sa destination d'origine a perduré. Le Comité français de courte paume a acquis l'édifice pour le restaurer et le réutiliser. Arrêté de péril en 2019.

History
The former real tennis court of Chinon is one of the oldest surviving halls of this game which enjoyed a success beyond what we can now imagine in France. The building, of which the roof structure was probably put in place in 1587, has experienced several uses and suffered many structural alterations since its construction. But the memory of its original purpose has endured. The French Short Tennis Committee acquired the building to restore it and put it to new use. Dangerous structure order in 2019.
