History

The priory of Chanceaux was founded in the course of the 11th century, under the authority of the abbey of Saint-Julien de Tours. The church, which became parochial, was separated from the convent buildings. These were transformed into agricultural workings. Two medieval buildings, for domestic use, survive and form the north-east angle of the quadrilateral today constituted. The first was transformed into a stable-barn and the second, much altered, into a dwelling.
