Historique
Le château de la Pataudière est un édifice de plan rectangulaire composé de cinq pavillons successivement accolés. Il a probablement été édifié initialement à la charnière du 16e et du 17e siècle, puis allongé à la fin du 19e siècle par les deux derniers pavillons au sud. Il a conservé une partie de ses aménagements défensifs : bouches à feu ovales bouchées, embrasures de tir à trémie, etc., et une partie de son mur d'enceinte, son portail et deux tours d'angle, l'une transformée en chapelle et l'autre contenant un escalier en vis qui permettait l'accès au chemin de ronde qui surmontait l'entrée. Les communs, non protégés, sont disposés autour d'une cour centrale accolée au mur de clôture nord du château. Le parc a été transformé en jardin zoologique au début du 20e siècle.

History
The château of la Pataudière is a rectangular-plan building composed of five pavilions successively adjoined. It was probably initially built at the juncture of the 16th and 17th centuries, then lengthened at the end of the 19th century by the two last pavilions to the south. It has preserved part of its defensive arrangements: stopped-up oval gun embrasures, embrasures with funnel-shaped loopholes, etc., and part of its perimeter wall, its gateway and two corner towers, one transformed into a chapel and the other containing a spiral staircase which allowed access to the parapet walk that surmounted the entrance. The outbuildings, unprotected, are arranged around a central courtyard adjoining the north perimeter wall of the château. The park was transformed into a zoological garden at the beginning of the 20th century.
