Construite entre 1874 et 1887 sur les plans de Jules et Henri Mellet, l'église Saint-Martin de Janzé est d'un parti proche de celle de Saint-Martin de Vitré, antérieure de quelques années. Bâtie en croix latine, d'inspiration romane, l'église est dotée d'une tour-lanterne de croisée abritant une coupole sur pendentifs, et d'une flèche en pierre culminant à 67 m. L'appareillage intérieur fait alterner la pierre de Caen et le tuffeau de Loire, avec du granit clair pour les piles de la nef. Le décor sculpté est particulièrement remarquable, ainsi que le mobilier (maître-autel, chaire, stalles) ; les vitraux historiés, de la maison Champigneulle, intègrent un chemin de croix.

History
Built between 1874 and 1887 to the plans of Jules and Henri Mellet, the church of Saint-Martin in Janzé is of a design close to that of Saint-Martin in Vitré, which is earlier by a few years. Built in Latin cross, of Romanesque inspiration, the church is equipped with a crossing lantern tower housing a dome on pendentives, and a stone spire reaching 67 m in height. The interior masonry alternates Caen stone and Loire tuffeau, with light granite for the piers of the nave. The sculptural decoration is particularly remarkable, as is the furnishings (high altar, pulpit, choir stalls); the narrative stained glass, from the Champigneulle house, incorporates a Way of the Cross.
